Mall of the Emirates, Dubai

Mall of the Emirates was opened in 2005 and features 2.2 million sf of retail space. It is not the largest mall in Dubai, but really the brand behind Dubai's shopping allure. Anchored by the world's largest indoor ski hill, the center has a strong tourist draw.

The atrium is undoubtedly one of the more impressive features of the shopping center. The overall design is one that will likely age gracefully as it contains a lot of traditional design elements.

To this day, it remains one of my favourite malls in the world. It was designed by one of my favourite architects, Andy Feola of F%26ampamp;A architecture based out of Venice Beach, LA.

CubicVR 3D Engine WebGL BeatDetektor Visualizer Demo #3

I like this one:
All runs in real-time with Javascript, WebGL and HTML5 only (uses Minefield Audio build) -- no browser plugins are used. This demo combines the CubicVR 3D engine on WebGL (www.cubicvr.org) with the Mozilla HTML5 Audio API (hacks.mozilla.org), Processing.js (www.processingjs.org) and BeatDetektor.js (www.beatdetektor.com) Mozilla Audio API is used to sample the HTML5 audio tag on the page, this information is processed by BeatDetektor.js which produces timing information for the Processing.js real-time canvas textures and the CubicVR.js procedurally generated WebGL scene using them. The camera is set to free roam a simple chase pattern with a probability to follow a nearby cube (fully automated). Available online at: cubicvr.org You can also try out BeatDetektor on your iPhone to detect BPM using the built-in microphone, works great on iPad as well: itunes.apple.com you can find more info about audio api-enabled Minefield builds at: wiki.mozilla.org You can also feel free to chat with us about the Audio API via the #audio channel on irc.mozilla.orgCubicVR 3D Engine WebGL BeatDetektor Visualizer Demo #3

A Viking boy called Hiccup (voice: Jay Baruchel) introduces his village of Berk (%26ampquot;it's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new%26ampquot;). The village is attacked by dragons, who steal food (mostly sheep) and set things on fire (hence all the new buildings). The villagers grab weapons and try to fight the dragons off. Despite being told by every adult in sight to go indoors, Hiccup hauls out a bolas-shooting cannon he made himself and shoots a dragon out of the night sky. (As assistant to the village blacksmith, Gobber (voice: Craig Ferguson), Hiccup has access to tools and materials and knows how to use them.) The dragon lands in the woods some distance form the village and no one believes that he hit anything, so it's the next day before Hiccup can go looking for it. It turns out to be a rare and deadly Night Fury, but Hiccup can't make himself kill it. Instead he releases it -- whereupon it also refrains from killing Hiccup -- and it flies off through the trees.
